Christmas Tradition

I’m not really good at keeping with traditions. Don’t get me wrong I do love traditions but I am just not good at remember to keep up with them. But one tradition that Ryan and I have kept up with is our annual ornament purchase. Each year we get one ornament for us, and one for each child that represents some big milestone that has happened throughout the year. This year Taylor got a big brother ornament, Emma got a baby girl safety pin, and mom and dad got a baby girl ornament. I have posted pictures below.

Mom and Dad’s Ornament that represents Emma’s birth:

Emma’s Ornament that represents her birth year:

Taylor’s Big Brother Ornament:

I will be real honest I did not put any of these special ornaments up this year for two reasons: one I did not want to pull them all out since we will be packing up and moving soon, and two my four year old loves Christmas and he like to touch everything and I don’t want any of these ornaments broken. So I’ll admit that I only kind of half way kept up with this tradition this year. Sorry kids…..

I hope to next year take them all out and take pictures of them and post them on my blog so I can help myself remember why we bought all of them and what they mean to us. Right now I can keep up with all of it but in 20 years (60 ornaments later) not so sure I will be able to.

That is a sweet tradition - one that will be fun every year when you put up your Christmas tree! As the kids get older - I bet they will be able to help you remember what each ornament represents.

I wish you would have bought Taylor a weapon ornament, oh well maybe next year. I guess being a big brother is more memorable than loving weapons!

My mom gives me a radko ornament every year too. I wish one day my tree will be all of radko ornaments. They are pretty.
